In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the museum at Hohentübingen Castle, the MUT, together with the Tübingen Troia Project, is showing the special exhibitions "Troia, Schliemann and Tübingen" and "Troia for Kids".
In 2022, the Museum at the Schloss Hohentübingen will celebrate its 25th birthday. On the occasion of this anniversary and the 200th birthday of Heinrich Schliemann in 2022, the MUT, in close cooperation with the Tübingen Troia Research Project, which will be 35 years old, developed the annual exhibition "Troia, Schliemann and Tübingen".
The focus is on objects from the rich trove of original finds from troy, combined with an extensive accompanying program. The anniversary exhibition is supplemented with exhibits from numerous collections of the university as well as external loans, which together with around 200 unpublished finds from Schliemann's Troia excavations offer an impressive spectrum. The exhibition in the Knights' Hall of the castle is divided into several sections. Specifically, the myth of troy, excavation and research history, Tübingens project troy, Heinrich Schliemann as well as finds on architecture, art, crafts and everyday life, and finally on the reception of troy up to trash objects in correspondence with troy.
Parallel to the main exhibition in the Knights' Hall, a hands-on accompanying exhibition "Troia for Kids" has been created in the cabinet room of the castle with a broad educational program. Both exhibitions were developed together with students in two practical seminars, each lasting two semesters, as part of the university's "Museum & Collections" master's profile.
Subprojects
In addition to the anniversary exhibition "Troia, Schliemann and Tübingen", the children's hands-on exhibition "Troia for Kids" will also take place. They will be accompanied by an international scientific lecture series, a special lecture series on planning aspects of the project as well as curatorial tours and museum educational offers by the students and the MUT team. The entire program can be found in an extensive booklet. In addition, there is a nearly 400-page catalog publication: Ernst Seidl, Stephan Blum, Magda Pieniążek, Michael La Corte (eds.): Troia, Schliemann and Tübingen, Tübingen: MUT, 2022, approx. 400 p., 39.90 Euro, ISBN 978-3-949680-04-5.
