Guided Tour of the Castle
Hohentübingen Castle is part of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and is the arguably most significant historical place in the town. The more than 1000-year-old history of this castle hill has influenced the regional development substantially. Amongst others, the role of Count Eberhard’s wife, Barbara von Gonzaga, as well as the most important finds of Johann Gottlieb Bohnenberger and Friedrich Miescher are told at the original locations. The connections of the Württemberg people to the European high nobility e.g. Queen Elizabeth II. are also discussed. During the short guided tour through the castle rooms and to the viewing platforms, the meaning of this place for the history of the town and the state as well as the scientific history becomes apparent.
